Default Inter Milan Vs Atletico Madrid – Preview and Prediction

Both teams are on the verge of creating history as neither Inter Milan of Atletico Madrid have won the Super Cup before. Inter are the favourites going in to this game thanks to Jose Mourinho’s hard work for the past two season. Inter Milan created history last season when they became the first Italian team to win the treble and not many people will deny that this is thanks to the special one, Jose Mourinho. However with Mourinho leaving and Rafa Benitez taking over, is Inter Milan still the same?

Quique Sanchez Flores managed to end Atletico Madrid 14 year wait for a silverware when they defeated Fulham to life the Europa League. On the other hand, Rafa Benitez have simply done nothing much in recent years. Since winning the Champions League in 2005, Rafa Benitez’s Liverpool have gone from bad to worse.

With Liverpool being the “Big Four” in England, not many would notice that under Benitez, Liverpool’s winning ratio for the past 6 years have only been 55%, an amount which is incredibly low for a team like Liverpool. Even at Valencia, where Benitez made his made, by winning two La Liga and one Uefa Cup, his winning ratio was only at 53%. Therefore looking at this stat, would pretty much conclude how much faith i have in him.

Rafa Benitez did a good job not to lose any of his key players but on the other hand, made no major signings since his arrival, where else Sanchez Flores managed to keep hold of his most valuable asset Forlan and Aguero and strengthening his side by adding Diego Godin, Fran Merida, Tiago and Filipe Luis.

Key Players:
Wesley Sneijder will be key in this Inter midfield as he will be the key focal point of Inter’s attack. Rafa will be banking on his Dutch ace to prove the supply for Milito.

As for Madrid, Sergio Aguero will have to be the key player. Not only does the Argentine score goals, he creates them too. His run often drags defenders along with him leaving space for his teammates. In addition, Forlan who was in great scoring form last season as well as in the World Cup will be a player to look out for as his poacher instinct might benefit Sanchez Flores.

With the game held at neutral venue, the odds for both side to win is pretty much 50-50. Therefore, the handicap for this game should be level ball. However, with Inter winning four pieces of silverware already this season, bookmakers are making them favourites to win their fifth silverware and Inter will have to cover the -0.75 headstart to win on the handicap.

With the handicap placed at -0.75, and having mention that this is a 50-50 game, my money is definitely on Atletico Madrid. No doubt Inter have the better players but Atletico are no pushovers by any means. Diego Forlan have impressed me time and time again while Sergio Aguero is the player to watch out for.

Yes there is risk in this as im backing the underdogs but the handicap looks too good to be rejected.

I’ll be brave and Take Atletico Madrid and accept the +0.5 head start @ 2.00 with Bet365
